Complete compliance with the Building Practitioners Act
The Design and Building Practitioners Act legislation was enacted in New South Wales in 2020 and took effect on 1 July 2021. Its aim was to enhance accountability and performance on the part of the design and building industry and its practitioners by enacting registration requirements, compliance declarations, duty of care standards, penalties and enforcements, and transitional arrangements as necessary.
The Design and Building Practitioners Act has mandated that all professionals take reasonable care to prevent economic and financial loss due to construction defects.
With the Act in place, construction practitioners now have specific obligations regarding “regulated designs,” which encompass crucial building elements and performance solutions.
