Can a tiler do waterproofing in NSW?
A tiler can carry out waterproofing work in NSW if they hold the required waterproofing licence or qualification, but the work still needs to meet the Australian Standard for wet area waterproofing (AS 3740) and, on regulated Class 2 buildings, the requirements of the Design and Building Practitioners Act. For anything beyond a straightforward domestic wet area, it’s worth engaging a specialist waterproofing contractor.
Can I do my own waterproofing in NSW?
For minor domestic work, an owner can carry out their own waterproofing in some circumstances, but the result still has to comply with AS 3740 and, for regulated Class 2 buildings, the Design and Building Practitioners Act.
